The Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool is hosting the second-annual TOSA Youth Tri for children ages 9-15 on Saturday, Aug. 26, at TOSA Pool at Hoyt Park. Triathlon participants will swim at TOSA Pool, bike the Menomonee River Parkway and run the Oak Leaf Trail and surrounding Hoyt Park.

Online registration is now open at The TOSA Youth Tri will be limited to the first 200 entries.





Children ages 9 to 15 (as determined by their age as of Dec. 31, 2017, per USA Triathlon rules)


Children can choose between two distances, depending on their abilities.

Swim 100 yards 200 yards
Bike 2 miles 4 miles
Run 0.62 mile 1.25 miles

    TOSA Pool at Hoyt Park’s outdoor 25-yard pool 

Biking:            Menomonee River Parkway, which will be closed to traffic 

Running:        Oak Leaf Trail and surrounding Hoyt Park lot. The course is subject to change at the discretion of the race director due to weather.

The cost is $40 per registrant (includes required $10 one-year USA Triathlon membership) through Friday, Aug. 4, then increases to $50 after Aug. 4. Entrants also will be charged a processing fee by

Packet Pickup and Bike / Helmet Drop-off

Packet Pickup and Bike (with helmet) Drop-off is Friday, Aug. 25, from noon to 8 p.m. in the Grand Hall at TOSA Pool at Hoyt Park, 1800 N Swan Blvd. Athletes cannot pick up packets for others.

Schedule of Events

The fun begins Saturday morning, Aug. 26, 2017, at TOSA Pool at Hoyt Park. Detailed schedule and information will be emailed to participants closer to race date.

Wave Information

Information on wave times for each age group in the Fun and Challenge categories will be posted here as it gets closer to the race date.


  • Every child must have a parent or guardian over the age of 21 at the event.
  • Bike helmets are required during the biking portion.
  • Race will be held rain or shine, but thunder, lightning or heavy rain could cancel the event.
  • There are no refunds.
  • The TOSA Youth Tri is USA Triathlon sanctioned. All USA Triathlon rules apply.

Would you like to help kids try a tri? Would you like your logo to be seen by hundreds of parents of youth and tweens? Become a sponsor of the TOSA Youth Tri!  We accept donations of all sizes, but all donors of $250 or more will have their logo on this website and on banners on race day. All donors of $500 or more will have their logo printed on the back of our competitor t-shirt.  Donations must be received by Friday, August 4  to be included on apparel. Proceeds from the TOSA Youth Tri benefit Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Swim Clinic

In conjunction with TOSA Pool, the Wauwatosa Recreation Department is offering a class to help prepare participants for the swim portion of the TOSA Youth Tri. For the race, participants will choose to swim either a 100-yard (FUN) or 200-yard (CHALLENGE) for time. In this class, work on building endurance and speed. Timed swims at each class will check for improvement. $25 fee.
